Filming Progress

Filming progress

We have now filmed all of our video after errors in locations, availability of props and availability of our stars. We finally had a window were everything was available to us so we took advantage of it by filming from 6pm to 4 am last night, it was a long day but we managed to get some good shots and ensure everything was done. The main issue in the videos is the continuity of the actors appearance, as his hair was changed because of uncontrollable factors.

However just as we finished filming a problem occurred with the camera saying that 'playback mode is not supported' we will find out if the footage is okay in the next few hours. We hope all the footage is still there.

Filming progress

So far we have managed o get the rooftop shots (a new edition) as we were able to locate an abandoned car park in the city centre of Leicester, we experimented with a variety of shots as we were unsure if the long shot would work. Also we gathered various in car shots that we are planning to use, they went well apart from some camera focus as we were not able to use a tripod in the car. We remastered the Begining as from feedback we thought that the swapping of cars for the first shot was confusing and Miss leading. Wall shots were also collected and the second persons part of the song was filmed, however sue to unexpected weather we are unsure of the quality, we will be remolding all weekend and expect to have a near enough completed draft by the end of Monday.

Shots that still need to be filmed:

Voice mail shot inside the house
outside tracking shot of the car
Various shots inside the industrial estate/poster wall frame shots

Colour pallete for digipak

Now i have rethought my intial idea for my digipak, i have decided to use the following colours:

COLOUR 1
COLOUR 2
COLOUR 3

I have chosen theese colours to be featured on my digipak as i they a) go together nicely, the white and black complemtn eachother with the diverse dark/light effect as well as the blue makeing an elemnt of brightness appear on ym didpak which would make it eye catchign and aethsthetically pleasing.

I expermineted with many colours however i always had a simplicty elemtn to my digipak this capped my ability to add multiple colours. Overall i think Blue White and Black was a sensable choice (especailly becuase it fits with sky high.
Below i have named what colours i used on each element.

BLACK- Most text and small print (becuase black overlayers most colours to ensure the text was visble)
WHITE- the brightness and opacity of the white colour allowed me to create a diverse effect on my digipak and advert, it also made some text clearer.
BLUE- This colour allowed me to still ensure my digipak and advert included some colour andVisual pleasement among my digipak and advert.

Track listing for the digipak

Tracklisting

1.Intro- Most Hip Hop albums tend to start with intros
2.Lowrider
3.Orange Juice
4. The Chemist
5.My life Be Like- Music Video Song
6.White Noise
7.The Golden Knight
8.Sky High- Album Name
9.Pyramid
10.Evidence

I have chosen to do 10 tracks as it opposes my genres conventions, originally i had 16 however today albums try to not follow the traditional conventions.

Indent ideas

This i came up with while experimenting with texts for my digipak i really like this font as it gves of a classy look as well as combining the elemnt hip hop to it, this reminds me of the earler record company 'Death Row'.
This font was picked from a genrator website it is called geriff sans and i firsrltly constucted this to see what variations i could get and which ones look better, however soon aftewr making this i knew that it did not give off the right vibe

This font is coperplate gothic bold, however i have edited this font in multiple ways to try and make an authentic logo in tone with todays companies, however i think this logo looks too 'animated'.
I particaully like this logoas it comnbines a strtaight forward font with a variation of 'loud' 'hip hop' behaviour.

filming complete!

We have now completed our filming after many weeks of work, we are proud of what we have and now it is time to edit the last bits!

Digipak and Advert

Above are the finished versions of my digipak and magazine advertisement, i think from the start of my project i have come a long way to conclude with a piece that i describe as 'simple but effective' in today's industry rap does not co notate loud colours, aggressive words or violence. Instead we have seen groups such as Odd Future and A$AP Rocky come to the surface bringing original taste and something diffrent to the scene, my poster was inspired by an EP i recently downloaded from a group that is not very famous called the Zoo Babies. I find the fonts to be in tone with one another sticking to bold yet rich in shape pictures. I have custom designed my own logo being 'Icon productions'. As you can also see i have taken advantage of the opacity tool as i thought it would be nice to have one major affect repeated through my project. Overall i find my digipak and advertisement to be effective however i am only one opinion i will see what people think and then present feedback.

Other School Media Video

I found this on youtube, it is a video mad eby students from another school, i really like some of the shots they have used as well as some of thier probs and camera angles, it made me thing as they are using the same software i nam, i would be able to prodcue a vidoe of this standard. After all i have wat they have

Inspiration from a video I found

This video came to me whilst i was listening to a song on youtube, i watched it and then thought about including the first shot in the field in my video. It would not be identical, however i really like the angles that are used and the simplicity of the background compliments the flow of the song.

Digipak and Advertisment Feedback

After showing my teacher my initial designs for my digipak and advert she came to the conclusion that i should change the autograph title on the front cover as it does not give any information about the artist or album name, i took this feedback into consideration and i have came to the conclusion that i will autograph the band name in a an atheistically pleasing font that will be clearly visible yet still keep the handwriting feel to it. Other feedback that i received included that the 'Grey Goose' bottles presented thruout the digipak as well as the advertisement cause a branding issue, this mad me realise that i had to put other items on their, still items that would co notate wealth, however items that would not advertise themselves. My fonts were given the all clear, however as i have conducted a phot shoot my teacher is yet to see the photographs. I Will also change the font colour on my advertisement to match my digipak (black and white, however keeping some of the red). Overall i was pleased with the feedback and will begin work straight away.

Production of music video-Progress

We have now filmed various shots which will use to form a Promo Video, which is featured sometimes on large albums where one song will be featured and focused on massively, we decided to make our promo one minute long and just include the first 45 seconds from the song, this would give our hypothetical audience a taster of what is to come and also inform them about the music videos minor narrative  i think that this is a good idea as it incorporates some marketing into our artists campaign as well as giving us a chance to see what else we should focus on regarding shooting the rest of the video.

To edit the first few shots of our video we used a very good piece of software on our colleges MACS called Final Cut Pro, which was very useful in importing/detaching audio as well as cutting clips and forming effects.
